The energy upgrade project was SEAI funded through Superhome.ie

Project Description: The house was inefficient there was very little insulation and the walls were damp. The house had poor quality double glazed windows, no natural ventilation,

Measures included in this upgrade are:

  • Replacement of all windows and doors
  • Replacement of the oil-fired boiler with an 8.5kW air to water heat pump
  • Under floor heating throughout
  • External Insulation
  • Attic Insulation
  • Demand controlled ventilation system
  • 2kW of Solar PV system
  • Wood burning stove
  • Energy Monitoring System

The client use to spend €3300 pa on electricity and oil. This retrofit removed all fossil fuels from their home and is part of Irelands transition to a low carbon future. The homeowner has seen a reduction of 70% on their energy bills.

Their home reached an A2 BER, ensuring it has a healthy indoor air quality and consistently warm living spaces 24 hours a day.
